Cat trainer Miriam Petker reports on her experience with ZeroMOUSE

Hi, I'm Miriam Petker , a passionate cat trainer and self-proclaimed helicopter cat mom. Cats aren't just my everyday life, they're my calling. When I realized how complex cat ownership really is and my own cats seemed unhappy, my journey into cat training began. A decision that changed not only their lives, but mine as well. Today, I support people with similar challenges and even get to share my knowledge as a cat expert on the German TV show dogcatmouse on VOX.
In my consultations, I always look at the big picture, and that's precisely how I stumbled upon a very personal problem: my hunting-obsessed cats and a less-than-animal-friendly neighbor. Regularly finding their prey in the house caused stress, complaints, and endless patrols of the stairwell.
The idea: ZeroMouse
An acquaintance told me about ZeroMouse , an AI-powered prey detection system for cat flaps. Curious and, to be honest, quite desperate, I wanted to know: Could it really work? Since I only recommend what I've tested myself, I decided to give it a try.
Unboxing & Installation
The device arrived surprisingly small, but was quick and easy to install, even on my existing cat flap. A particular advantage: no new purchase was necessary, just a sustainable upgrade. Despite the old building, poor cell service, and cold basement, everything worked perfectly with a few additional tech accessories.
The big test
After a short adjustment period for the cats, the everyday test followed, and it was a complete success. ZeroMouse uses a camera to detect if my cat has prey in her mouth and, if so, prevents her from entering the house. For me, this meant less stress, no more daily checks, and significantly more relaxation. Bonus: incredibly cute cat photos in the app.
The ultimate test: Aurora
Of course, it would have been too easy if everything had run smoothly all the time. My cat Aurora actually managed to outsmart the technology. With patience, cleverness, and a very creative solution. After a brief analysis, consultation with the ZeroMouse team, and a minor adjustment to the camera position, this problem was also solved.
Conclusion
ZeroMouse has noticeably changed my daily life: less stress, more trust, and a predator-proof home, without restricting my cats. For me, a small upgrade with a big impact.
